An internet provider said Thursday that the problem had been fixed and the cable is now fully recovered, Voice of Vietnam reported. The IA is one of five undersea internet cables connecting Vietnam to the rest of the globe. All four other undersea cables are currently having simultaneous problems. The…
Thailand’s Kasikorn Bank (KBank) is hoping to repeat its digital banking success in neighbouring Vietnam, albeit with only one brick-and-mortar outlet in the country (compared with 824 in Thailand). KBank, ranked among Thailand’s top three banks by assets, received a banking licence to open a single branch in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s economic capital, in November 2021, after a long wait and postponements due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, being limited to one branch has not curtailed its ambitions. The bank aims to become one of Vietnam’s top 20 banks by assets, with an income of $400m…
Many foreigners were enchanted by the beauty of Vietnam’s natural landscapes and transformation in urban cities after watching the new Netflix film “A Tourist’s Guide to Love.” American Jennifer Doan, producer of Fox 10 Phoenix’s Arizona Morning program, said that she had been to Vietnam three times between 2002 and 2007 but after watching the movie she thought that Vietnam had changed dramatically. “I remembered how bad Highway 1 was. It was a bumpy ride but the drone scene in the film showed so much progress from the high-rise buildings in Saigon to the highway scenes,” she said. “I need…
The suggestion of an executive of the Democrat party that Thailand should decriminalize sex toys after the next election has sent vibrations throughout the political spectrum. Here in Pattaya, other parties have hastened to disassociate themselves from the trivial and boring issue. “We should be concentrating on the economic and political future of Thailand,” said a senior Pheu Thai party member. Sex toys have been banned from sale in Thailand since a 1928 obscenity law although the penalties are rather lopsided: a mild US$1,800 fine or draconian three years in prison are mentioned in the criminal code. According to internet…
