JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) appreciates the move by the National Police to travel around Asean to build police-to-police cooperation to hunt down fugitives in corruption cases. KPK Enforcement and Institutional Spokesperson Ali Fikri said the steps taken by the National Police were a form of support for the Corruption Eradication Commission which is still hunting for 4 corruption suspects. “I think it’s good as support for conducting a search for the KPK’s DPO (wanted list of persons),” said Ali in his statement, Thursday (9/2/2023).
Ali said that hunting for DPOs required cooperation abroad. This is because there are indications that almost all KPK fugitives are not in Indonesia. Ali said the KPK had also asked for Interpol’s assistance in pursuing the DPO. He gave an example, recently the KPK has asked Interpol for help in arresting a fugitive in the e-KTP case, Paulus Tannos. He is said to have been detected in Thailand. However, the red notice for Paulus Tannos was published late because he had changed his identity. “What has been conveyed, for example, is that the suspect PT (Paulus Tannos) is abroad and has even changed his identity,” said Ali. The prosecutor said that Paulus Tannos had even obtained a passport from another country.
However, he was reluctant to reveal the country that issued the passport for Paulus Tannos. “We cannot say at this time which country issued the passports of the KPK suspects who are currently on the DPO,” he said. Previously, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo admitted that he was building cooperation with police in Asean countries to hunt down the KPK DPO. Currently, the Bhayangkara Corps member is traveling around Southeast Asian countries. “The National Police are currently also working with several countries in ASEAN to make it easier to find the perpetrators (of corruption) using the police to police scheme,” said Listyo at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (7/2/2023).
Previously, KPK Deputy for Enforcement and Execution, Karyoto, revealed that his party could have arrested Paulus Tannos in Thailand if only the red notice from Interpol had not been issued late. On Friday (27/1/2023), Ali said that the red notice was late because Paulus Tannos had changed his name. This forced the KPK to search for the corruption suspect with a new identity. Paulus Tannos is the Main Director of PT Sandipala Arthaputra. The company was involved in procuring the e-KTP project which cost the state trillions of rupiah. The other three KPK fugitives are former PDI Perjuangan politician Harun Masiku who is a suspect in the bribery of General Election Commission (KPU) commissioners.
Then, Kirana Kotama who was caught up in a gift-giving corruption case related to the appointment of Ashanti Sales as the exclusive agent of PT PAL Indonesia (Persero) in the procurement of SSV vessels for the Government of the Philippines in 2014. Finally, the Regent of Central Mamberamo, Ricky Ham Pagawak who was caught in a case of alleged bribery and project gratuities infrastructure. It is suspected that he fled to Papua New Guinea through illegal channels with the assistance of a number of members of the police and army.
